Adrienne Tagoona is a graduate of the Social Services Worker program with the Nunavut Arctic College in Iqaluit. Prior to completing the Social Service’s program in Iqaluit, Adrienne attended the Red River College in Winnipeg, Manitoba where she studied Community Development/Community Economic Development. While studying in Iqaluit, she completed her first field placement and summer employment with Piruqatigiit Resource Centre as a Child and Youth Ikajuqti in 2019. In her role at Piruqatigiit, she assisted in delivering specialized programming for children and youth living with FASD as well as developed a specialized summer camp for children and youth living with FASD and ADHD. She also worked for Akausisarvik Mental Health Facility while studying in Iqaluit.

Adrienne has gained the best practice in Community Development, Fundraising & Event Planning, Participatory Planning & Evaluations, Business Communications/Proposal Writing and Facilitating Empowering Process while studying in Winnipeg, MB and as a graduate from the Social Services Worker Program in Iqaluit, she has gained a theoretical foundation in sociology, family dynamics, and social policy as well as practical knowledge and skills in crisis interventions that has been rooted together with the Inuit Qaujimajatuqangit Societal Values.

In her new role at Piruqatigiit Resource Centre, Adrienne will be assisting in developing FASD training that will be available online and through DVD, and will be working in Baker Lake, Nunavut providing community outreach and eventually will be offering community outreach to other communities in Nunavut.

In the hopes that it will one day guide her into developing mental health and addictions land-based healing programs for Nunavummiut, Adrienne spends her free time learning about the land, its animals, flora, traditional food preparation, and stories from her Inuit culture.

Adrienne lives in her hometown Baker Lake, Nunavut with her children and partner.
