Ikajuqti, Child & Youth Programs

Caryn Rubio has been part of the Piruqatigiit team since 2019 as the Children’s Program Coordinator and facilitator. She enjoys working with children and giving them a space to learn about themselves, find success and build their self-esteem, confidence, and skills. She has worked as a children’s educator since 2007 in grades 2 though 9. Her interests in education are creating inclusive spaces for all learners, growth mind, emotional regulation and encouraging all educators to adopt a strength-based approach with diverse learners. She grew up in rural Ontario and moved to Mexico City upon completing Teachers College. She has lived in Iqaluit for the past nine years with her husband and golden retriever. She’s a lifelong learner who enjoys hiking on the tundra, decorating cakes and traveling the world.
